Historic Preservation Grants
Each year, we strive to give grants to individuals, nonprofits and community organizations to help defray some of the expenses associated with historic preservation efforts.
Preservation Alliance usually awards our grants at our annual meeting, normally held in late June. Due to the health crisis, we may have to delay grant funding and dispersal until the summer or early fall. We will keep you updated on any date changes. Thank you for your understanding. You have one year to complete your project.
Extension of Preservation Alliance’s Grant Fund
Dear Fellow Preservationists,
In light of the current National health crisis, Preservation Alliance of Baltimore County is moving our Grant Fund application deadline from April to June 30th.
Please note that this year we are focusing our decade-old Grant Fund on those who need our community’s support the most, by assisting other non-profit organizations and low-income homeowners with the repair and restoration of their historic buildings and homes.
We are accepting applications from Baltimore County non-profits, and we will be working with Neighborhood Associations to identify community members in need. Grants will range from $1000-3000, and fund request may be for either all or part of a historic repair/restoration project such as window repairs. Properties must be listed (either individually or as part of a district) as a Baltimore County Landmark, on the Maryland State or National Register, and/or have been built before 1945 and in largely intact and authentic condition.
Examples of project activities that would qualify for Grant consideration:
- Window repair
- Roof repair
- Plaster repair
- Masonry repair
Examples of project activities that would NOT qualify for a Presentation Alliance Grant:
- Window replacement
- Room additions
- Drywall installation
- Vinyl or aluminum siding

Help Us Save More Buildings
We are focusing on growing our decade-old Grant Fund, allowing us to increase the number of buildings we can help preserve and restore. In addition to our traditional grants to non-profits, our organization is dedicated to help preserve the historic owner-occupied homes of those with limited funds. We your help, we can assist community members to stay in their homes, with assistance such as roof and window repairs; thereby helping them, and keeping our historic neighborhoods intact.
