The Preservation Alliance of Baltimore County (PABC), is dedicated to preserving Baltimore County’s unique heritage of buildings, sites, towns, and neighborhoods. A non-profit organization founded in 1979, all donations are fully tax deductible. Our goals include:

  • Economic Development
  • Neighborhood Stabilization
  • Architectural and Environmental Stewardship
  • Promoting Adaptive Reuse
  • Aging in Place for Senior Citizens

Become a member or donate any amount. Membership also includes benefits, such as free admission & discounts to Preservation Alliance tours & events.

Donate to our Grant Fund
Donate to our Aging in Place & History Grant Fund, & assist a limited-income Senior Citizens with restoration & safety repairs to their historic homes.

Donor Advised Funds
Donor advised funds offer the flexibility to give when & where you want, with immediate tax benefits. Preservation Alliance has a 40+ year history of managing donor advised funds for specific preservation projects.


Retirement Plans
You can make Preservation Alliance a beneficiary of your retirement plan. Leaving all or part of your retirement plan to charity dramatically lowers future taxes and can diminish income and estate taxes that can consume your account.

IRA Charitable Rollover & Required Minimum Distributions
The IRA Charitable Rollover allows people age 70½ & older to make direct transfers totaling up to $100,000 per year to qualified charities without having to count the transfers as income. If you are 73 or older, the transfer counts towards your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) allows you to avoid paying income tax on the distribution.

Gifts of Securities
Donating appreciated securities, such stocks & bonds can be a tax-wise & simple way to help. Gifts of stock may help you avoid paying capital gains.


Gifts of Real Estate
Donations residential, commercial or undeveloped real estate can help you save on taxes & reducing responsibilities associated with property ownership. You can donate your property outright, or you can give the title now and retain the right to live there for your lifetime. Historic easements are available upon request.

Legacy gifts can support the work of Preservation Alliance, as a a bequest in your will or trust. Bequests allow donors to focus on current financial obligations, while also providing critical support to future preservation efforts. A gift in your will may be a gift of a specific dollar amount or a percentage of your estate.

Charitable Gift Annuities
You can transfer cash or appreciated securities in exchange for fixed income payments for life. You may also qualify for an income tax deduction &, most importantly, your gift will support preservation efforts in Baltimore County.
