Thank you to all the fellow preservationists who shared their concern about the potential relocation of the Scott House, aka Covin-White House, in Bare Hills. The good news is that the Baltimore County Historic Landmarks Commission voted to not approve the proposed move. The potentially concerning news is that the Commission left open the possibility of the property owner moving the Scott House to another location on Falls Road. We will keep you updated if/when another proposal is submitted.
The historic Scott House, located within the Bare Hills Historic District, is an historic African-American Community, that is both a County Landmark and on the National Register of Historic Places. Not only would a move take the Scott House out of its historic context, and highly visible and prominent location on Falls Road, it could potentially also cause irreparable damage to the structure.
